|Andy Whitfield 1972-2011|
Pretty sad and depressing stuff right here. Looks like Andy Whitfield aka "dude who played the totally bad ass spartacus" died Sunday. Bummer.
So dude is in Australia getting bit parts here and there, after the ripe age of 30, finally gets his big break with Spartacus, gets cancer, fights back in bad ass spartacus fashion only to have the lymphoma make a return to usher him into death's lonesome embrace at age 39...or 37....or 38...there are like nine different sources for his age people. The statement from his fam stated he was 39 so we're rolling with that. Speaking of his wife's statement:
"On a beautiful sunny Sydney spring morning, surrounded by his family, in the arms of his loving wife, our beautiful young warrior Andy Whitfield lost his 18 month battle with lymphoma cancer," Whitfield's wife Vashti said in a statement. "He passed peacefully surrounded by love. Thank you to all his fans whose love and support have help carry him to this point. He will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was." (via yahoo)
Crazy stuff, the guy just started getting his due as an actor and then BAM! No life for you! It's a cold world and cruel life in front of us. The Gods weren't playing around on this one. I'm glad he was able to die in comfort on a sunny Sunday morning. I wish his fam well. The guy seemed for all purposes like a good dude and he totally had the bad ass market covered as Spartacus. Wish we could have gotten to know ya better Andy.
On another note...He did die on Sept 11th...can't be just a coincidence, maybe former president Bush has some special insight to this so called "lymphoma" terrorist cell.
